The Mask Character |
The performers re-enact their training in mask from the very early stages, showing phases of the technical and creative process, together with elements of performance. |
To retain the fun and the unpredictability of mask behaviour, the emphasis is also put on improvisation: the performers introduce their mask character to the spectators, encouraging interaction and participation. |
The workshop also provides information about the historical roots that connect Punch and Judy characters with the masks of the Commedia dell’Arte, spread through Europe and beyond by Italian actors and puppeteers. |
