This workshop is about creating characters and developing their stories, through a creative dialogue between writing and improvisational techniques. It’s for performers wishing to devise and develop characters for a solo piece and for those who want to deepen their work on characters from a text, a novel, a poem or a play.
You will learn how to write through improvisation, and how to feed improvisations through writing. You will develop material, and at the end of the workshop you will have the seed of a solo performance. You can bring your own half-imagined characters, or you can start from scratch. Chance is the rule - not to have “ideas” but to discover through language, entering into a creative flow in which the logic of your imagination can work.
